Add a Required "I Agree to the Terms" Checkbox to Your Store Checkout
You sell online, which means at some point a customer will dispute a charge, misunderstand your refund policy, or claim they never agreed to your terms. If there was no moment where they explicitly said "I agree," that argument is harder to win — and in some regions, that missing checkbox is a compliance problem, not just a hassle.
You can now add a mandatory Terms and Conditions consent checkbox to your store checkout, so customers explicitly agree before they can complete a purchase.
Consent, right before they pay
Turn it on and a checkbox appears at the final step before the payment button — unchecked by default — and checkout is blocked with an inline error until the customer ticks it. No accidental agreement, no buried fine print; a clear, deliberate "yes" at the exact moment it matters.
You control the wording. Edit the label and add links to your Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, so customers can actually read what they're agreeing to.
If it ever comes down to "they never agreed to the terms," this is the checkbox that says they did.
Built for compliance, on every device
This helps you meet legal requirements in regulated markets — EU, UK, and regulated industries where explicit consent isn't optional. And it works fully across desktop and mobile, so the protection holds no matter how your customer checks out.
(Compliance note: this is general information, not legal advice. Whether and how consent requirements apply to your store is worth confirming with your own counsel.)
How to turn it on
Open your Store Builder and edit the Checkout Page. Select the Checkout element, and in the right panel scroll to Terms and Conditions. Toggle "Enable Terms and Conditions" on, customize the text, and insert your links. Save and publish. From then on, no customer completes checkout without agreeing first.
The takeaway
Protecting yourself at checkout is a two-minute setting. Open your Checkout element, enable Terms and Conditions, link your policies, and publish — so every sale comes with a clear, recorded agreement. Cleaner for compliance, safer for disputes, invisible to honest customers.
Simplify. Automate. Scale.
